Web search API for AI agents

AgentSearch Web Search gives agents, LLM search tools and RAG search pipelines live web results as structured JSON: up to 5 ranked results per call with title, URL, snippet, score, domain and date. Call it over HTTP through the Pocket Agentic Portal or as an MCP web search tool.

What it does

Structured results, not SERP HTML

A JSON-first alternative to a scraped SERP API: each result carries title, URL, content snippet, relevance score, domain and published date, ready for tool-use and citations.

Built for agent tool calls

One POST /v1/search with a query and optional max_results (1–5). Errors come back as a JSON error object with a retryable flag.

Pay per call, no signup

$0.005 per call in USDC over x402 (Base) or MPP (Tempo) on the Pocket Agentic Portal. No account, plan or API key, so an agent with a wallet can start immediately.

When to use it vs. the other two

AgentSearch has three services. Pick by what your agent has in hand and where the content lives.

This page

Web Search

You have a question, not a URL. Get up to 5 ranked results with title, URL, snippet, score, domain and date.

Read a static page

Web Extract

You have a URL and the content is in the HTML the server sends: docs, blogs, news, most marketing pages. Fast and cheap.

Read a JavaScript page

Web Render

The content only appears after JavaScript runs: SPAs, dashboards, client-rendered lists. Headless Chromium renders it first.

Request and response

Request (Agentic Portal)

curl -X POST https://agent.pocket.network/v1/agentsearch-web-search-v1/v1/search \
  -H 'content-type: application/json' \
  -d '{"query":"Pocket Network","max_results":1}'
# → 402 Payment Required with the terms.
# An x402 or MPP client pays and retries.

FAQ

Is this a SERP API?

It does the job agents usually want from a SERP API, but it returns structured JSON results (title, URL, snippet, score, domain, date) instead of a search results page.

How many results do I get per call?

Up to 5. Set max_results from 1 to 5; values outside that range are clamped.

How much does it cost, and do I need an API key?

It costs $0.005 per call in USDC, paid over x402 on Base or MPP on Tempo through the Pocket Agentic Portal. There is no account and no API key.

How do I use it as an MCP web search tool?

Add npx -y @pocket-network/agentic-portal-mcp to your MCP client, set a spending limit, then use call_service on agentsearch-web-search-v1. See the MCP setup guide.
